{"id":73828,"date":"2020-12-20T11:06:34","date_gmt":"2020-12-20T05:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=73828"},"modified":"2020-12-24T17:03:14","modified_gmt":"2020-12-24T11:33:14","slug":"indian-railways-issues-draft-national-rail-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/indian-railways-issues-draft-national-rail-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Railways issues draft National Rail Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1681727\">Click here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>\u00a0Indian Railways has issued a Draft National Rail Plan.The plan will be a common platform for all future infrastructural, business and financial planning of the Railways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Key objectives of the Plan:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Create Demand:\u00a0<\/strong>To create capacity ahead of demand by 2030, which in turn would cater to growth in demand right up to 2050 and also increase the modal share of Railways from 27% currently to 45% in freight by 2030 as part of a national commitment to reduce net zero carbon emission by 2030.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Forecast growth of traffic\u00a0<\/strong>in both freight and passenger year on year up to 2030 and on a decadal basis up to 2050.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Formulate strategies\u00a0<\/strong>based on both operational capacities and commercial policy initiatives to increase modal share of the Railways in freight to 45% by 2030.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reduce transit time of freight<\/strong>\u00a0substantially by increasing average speed of freight trains from present 22 Kmph to 50 Kmph.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reduce overall cost of Rail transportation\u00a0<\/strong>by nearly 30% and pass on the benefits to the customers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Map the growth in demand on the Indian Railway\u00a0<\/strong>route map and simulate the capacity behaviour of the network in future.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Identify infrastructural bottlenecks<\/strong>\u00a0that would arise in future with growth in demand.Select projects along with appropriate technology in both track work, signalling and rolling stock to mitigate these bottlenecks well in advance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: Click here News:\u00a0Indian Railways has issued a Draft National Rail Plan.The plan will be a common platform for all future infrastructural, business and financial planning of the Railways.
