{"id":74005,"date":"2020-12-22T18:21:52","date_gmt":"2020-12-22T12:51:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=74005"},"modified":"2020-12-23T16:36:06","modified_gmt":"2020-12-23T11:06:06","slug":"parliamentary-standing-committee-recommendation-on-the-management-of-covid-19-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/parliamentary-standing-committee-recommendation-on-the-management-of-covid-19-situation\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliamentary Standing Committee recommendation on the management of COVID-19 situation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong>\u00a0The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs has submitted its report to the Rajya Sabha Chairman on the\u00a0<strong>management of<\/strong>\u00a0Covid-19 situation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Suggestions given by Panel:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Panel has given suggestion on the four aspects:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The country\u2019s preparedness<\/li>\n<li>Augmentation of health infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Social impact<\/li>\n<li>Economic impact<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-74003\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/blog.forumias.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/The-Panels-Suggestions.jpg?resize=461%2C384&amp;ssl=1\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 461px) 85vw, 461px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/blog.forumias.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/The-Panels-Suggestions.jpg?w=461&amp;ssl=1 461w, https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/blog.forumias.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/The-Panels-Suggestions.jpg?resize=300%2C250&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/blog.forumias.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/The-Panels-Suggestions.jpg?resize=150%2C125&amp;ssl=1 150w\" alt=\"The Panel's Suggestions\" width=\"461\" height=\"384\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0<\/strong>The Hindu<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Country\u2019s preparedness<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Separate Wing:\u00a0<\/strong>A separate wing may be formed in the National Disaster Management Authority that will specialize in handling \/managing the Pandemics like COVID-19 in the future.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Center-state coordination mechanism:<\/strong>\u00a0For providing quick response to such crisis, an effective functional institutional mechanism is needed for coordination between the Centre, states, and Union Territories.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>On country\u2019s Health Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Public Health Act:\u00a0<\/strong>A comprehensive Public Health Act preferably at the National Level with suitable legal provisions to keep checks and controls over private hospitals in times of a pandemic to\n<ul>\n<li>curb black marketing of medicines<\/li>\n<li>check the malpractices like selling of hospital beds<\/li>\n<li>denial of the cashless facility<\/li>\n<li>variation in levying charges towards consumables such as PPE kits, gloves etc,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strengthen Public Health care System:\u00a0<\/strong>The public sector healthcare delivery system needs to be further strengthened in all the states\/ UTs and a uniform healthcare system should be established across the country to deal with the pandemic on a sustained basis in the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>On Social Impacts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>National Database on migrant workers\u00a0<\/strong>should be launched at the earliest as it will help in the identification of migrant workers and also in delivering ration and other benefits to them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inter-state operability of ration cards:\u00a0<\/strong>It recommended that until the One Nation, One Ration Card is implemented in all states\/UTs, inter-state operability of ration cards should be allowed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mid-Day Meal Scheme:\u00a0<\/strong>Central government should coordinate with local administration through state governments to ensure rations\/ allowances are delivered on time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>On Economic Impacts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Awareness Campaigns:\u00a0<\/strong>The Government should hold awareness campaigns on cheaper and effective repurposed medicines to prevent panic-buying of expensive drugs by the people.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vaccine Authorization:\u00a0<\/strong>Any vaccine against COVID-19 should be granted emergency use authorisation only after proper consideration and conducting its trials on a sufficient sample size.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:\u00a0The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs has submitted its report to the Rajya Sabha Chairman on the\u00a0management of\u00a0Covid-19 situation.
