The challenges\u00a0this system facing are related\u00a0to\u00a0funding, academic autonomy, designing robust processes for recruitment of faculty,\u00a0counselling\u00a0arrangements for early-career researchers, and systems to help overcome the many barriers to equality and diversity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why India does not\u00a0have\u00a0cutting edge research\u00a0framework?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"3\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>First, Lack of research institutes<\/strong>\u2013\u00a0Only few institutions\u00a0like TIFR, IITs,\u00a0across the\u00a0country\u00a0and are outside university systems,\u00a0conducting cutting edge research.<\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"3\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Second,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Lack of freedom<\/strong>\u2013\u00a0Most universities\u202fin\u202fIndia\u202fdo not have the freedom to design courses, find creative ways to raise funds,\u00a0lack of collaboration between industry and academia.<\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"3\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Third,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Lack of collaboration between industry and academia<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0India is lacking in conducting research that is both practically relevant and scientifically rigorous.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On\u00a0the other hand, In US,\u00a0Pfizer\u00a0[premier biopharmaceutical company], and the University of California have created systems to combine academic thinking with drug development expertise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u00a0are the most effective strategies to generate cutting edge research\u00a0ecosystem?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"4\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>First<\/strong>,\u00a0there is need\u00a0to shift university admission process\u00a0for the success of\u00a0New Education Policy (NEP),<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"o\" data-font=\"Courier New\" data-listid=\"5\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Currently,\u00a0non-viable high cut-offs speak of an education system that does not encourage creative learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"4\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Second,<\/strong>\u00a0there is a need for a strong collaboration between the\u00a0universities and industries to come up with innovative ideas in research along with higher investments in R&amp;D.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Therefore, policymakers should\u00a0look after the institutional framework that enables research.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Synopsis\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The policymakers\u00a0that\u00a0finetuned\u00a0the NEP and give shape to\u00a0Atmanirbhar\u00a0Bharat,\u00a0must\u00a0also nurture\u00a0institutional frameworks that enable research.\u00a0 \u00a0Background-\u00a0 The NEP also fosters creativity, developing employability and inviting foreign institutions to set up campuses in India.
