{"id":75320,"date":"2021-01-05T10:41:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-05T05:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=75320"},"modified":"2021-01-05T15:04:38","modified_gmt":"2021-01-05T09:34:38","slug":"iit-hyderabad-sets-up-tihan-iit-testbed-for-autonomous-navigation-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/iit-hyderabad-sets-up-tihan-iit-testbed-for-autonomous-navigation-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"IIT Hyderabad sets up \u2018TiHAN-IIT\u2019 testbed for autonomous navigation systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong>\u00a0Union Minister of Education has virtually laid the foundation stone of \u2018TiHAN-IIT Hyderabad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>TiHAN:\u00a0<\/strong>It is India\u2019s first Technology Innovation Hub for Autonomous Navigation Systems and Data Acquisition Systems setup by IIT Hyderabad.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus:\u00a0<\/strong>The hub focuses on addressing various challenges hindering the real-time adoption of unmanned autonomous vehicles for both terrestrial and aerial applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funded by:<\/strong>\u00a0It was sanctioned and funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sectors:\u00a0<\/strong>The hub\u2019s focus sectors include Intelligent, Autonomous Transportation and Systems, Agriculture, Surveillance, and Environmental &amp; Infrastructure Monitoring.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Who can use it?\u00a0<\/strong>The hub will be available for use by industries, R&amp;D labs, academia conducting research and development in the broad areas of autonomous navigation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cyber Physical Systems(CPS):\u00a0<\/strong>It is a new class of engineered systems that integrate computation and physical processes in a dynamic environment. It encompasses technology areas of Cybernetics, Mechatronics, Design and Embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI) among others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS):<\/strong>\u00a0It was launched in 2018 by the Department of Science &amp; Technology for a period of five years.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim<\/strong>: To create a seamless ecosystem for CPS by coordinating and integrating nationwide efforts encompassing knowledge generation, human resource development, research, technology, innovation and commercialization.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Objectives of the Mission:\u00a0<\/strong>The mission implementation would develop and bring:\n<ul>\n<li>Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and associated technologies within reach in the country,<\/li>\n<li>adoption of CPS technologies to address India specific National \/ Regional issues,<\/li>\n<li>produce Next Generation skilled manpower in CPS,<\/li>\n<li>catalyze Translational Research,<\/li>\n<li>accelerate entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem development in CPS,<\/li>\n<li>give impetus to advanced research in CPS, Technology development and higher education in Science, Technology and Engineering disciplines, and<\/li>\n<li>place India at par with other advanced countries and derive several direct and indirect benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features of the mission:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The mission aims at establishment of 15 numbers of Technology Innovation Hubs(TIH), six numbers of Application Innovation Hubs(AIH) and four numbers of Technology Translation Research Parks(TTRP).<\/li>\n<li>These Hubs &amp; TTRPs will connect to Academics, Industry, Central Ministries and State Government in developing solutions at reputed academic, R&amp;D and other organizations across the country in a hub and spoke model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindubusinessline.com\/news\/science\/iit-hyderabad-sets-up-tihan-iit-testbed-for-autonomous-navigation-systems\/article33445307.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Article source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:\u00a0Union Minister of Education has virtually laid the foundation stone of \u2018TiHAN-IIT Hyderabad.
