{"id":76101,"date":"2021-01-09T18:39:34","date_gmt":"2021-01-09T13:09:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=76101"},"modified":"2021-03-01T13:20:22","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T07:50:22","slug":"natural-capital-accounting-and-valuation-of-the-ecosystem-services-ncaves-india-forum-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/natural-capital-accounting-and-valuation-of-the-ecosystem-services-ncaves-india-forum-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Natural Capital Accounting and Valuation of the Ecosystem Services (NCAVES) India Forum-2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation(MoSPI) is organising the Natural Capital Accounting and Valuation of the Ecosystem Services (NCAVES) India Forum-2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>NCAVES India Forum: <\/strong>It is being organized by MoSPI in collaboration with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), European Union and UN Environment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives: <\/strong>The objectives of the National Forum would be:\n<ul>\n<li>To present India\u2019s achievements in the domain of Natural Capital Accounting (NCA);<\/li>\n<li>To prioritize the emerging opportunities for NCA in India;<\/li>\n<li>To familiarize stakeholders with the work undertaken by the different international agencies in the area of NCA and<\/li>\n<li>To provide a platform to selected Research Institutions to present their research conducted in the valuation of ecosystem services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is NCAVES Project?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The project has been launched by the United Nations Statistics Division, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the European Union.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim: <\/strong>To assist the five participating partner countries, namely Brazil, China, India, Mexico and South Africa, to advance the knowledge agenda on environmental-economic accounting, in particular ecosystem accounting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding and Duration: <\/strong>The project is funded by the European Union(EU) and will have a duration until the end of 2021.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation of Project in India: <\/strong>In India, the NCAVES project is being implemented by the MoSPI in close collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&amp;CC) and the National Remote Sensing Centre(NRSC).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Significance of NCAVES Project for India:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EnviStats India<\/strong>: The participation in the project has helped MOSPI commence the compilation of the Environment Accounts as per the UN-SEEA framework and release environmental accounts in its publication \u201cEnviStats India\u201d on an annual basis since 2018.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India-EVL Tool<\/strong>: The project has also helped India develop the India-EVL Tool which is essentially a look-up tool giving a snapshot of the values of various ecosystem services in the different States of the country based on about 80 studies conducted across the country.\n<ul>\n<li>An additional benefit of this tool is that it provides a critical view on the literature that is available and the applicability of estimates spatially across India according to bio-geographical areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleseDetailm.aspx?PRID=1687110\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong> Article Source<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation(MoSPI) is organising the Natural Capital Accounting and Valuation of the Ecosystem Services (NCAVES) India Forum-2021.
