{"id":76412,"date":"2021-01-12T17:11:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-12T11:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=76412"},"modified":"2021-03-01T14:28:51","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T08:58:51","slug":"rs-1364-crore-given-to-wrong-beneficiaries-of-pm-kisan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/rs-1364-crore-given-to-wrong-beneficiaries-of-pm-kisan\/","title":{"rendered":"Rs. 1,364 crore given to wrong beneficiaries of PM-Kisan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong>\u00a0According to an Right to Information (RTI) reply, Union government has paid Rs 1,364 crore to 20.48 lakh ineligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme till July 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There were two categories of undeserving beneficiaries who received PM-KISAN payouts namely the \u201cineligible farmers\u201d and \u201cincome tax payee farmers\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>More than half (55.58%) of these undeserving persons belong to the income tax payee category. The remaining 44.41% belong to the ineligible farmer\u2019s category. However, in terms of the amount paid, 72% of the fund went to income tax payee.<\/li>\n<li>Punjab (23%), Maharashtra (17%) and Assam (14%) account for more than half of the beneficiaries of wrong payments followed by Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh with 8% each.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>PM KISAN:\u00a0<\/strong>It was launched in 2019.It is the Centre\u2019s flagship scheme to provide income support worth Rs. 6,000 a year to farming families. Earlier, it was meant to cover only small and marginal farmers who owned less than two hectares.
