{"id":77055,"date":"2021-01-16T13:40:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-16T08:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=77055"},"modified":"2021-01-16T19:53:32","modified_gmt":"2021-01-16T14:23:32","slug":"rcs-udan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/rcs-udan\/","title":{"rendered":"Hisar Airport Inaugurated Under RCS-UDAN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:\u00a0<\/strong>Government has inaugurated the newly constructed Hisar airport in Haryana from Chandigarh under the Regional Connectivity Scheme \u2013 Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme:\u00a0<\/strong>It was launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The scheme is a component of the National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP), 2016.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim<\/strong>: To develop a regional aviation market. It seeks to connect under-served and unserved airports in India through the revival of existing airstrips and airports.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Create affordable yet economically viable and profitable flights on regional routes.<\/li>\n<li>Development of remote areas and enhancing trade and commerce and tourism expansion.<\/li>\n<li>Employment creation in the aviation sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration:\u00a0<\/strong>The scheme would be in operation for a period of 10 years.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Features of the scheme:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the scheme, airlines have to cap airfares for 50% of the total seats at Rs. 2,500 per hour of flight.<\/li>\n<li>This would be achieved through (1) a financial stimulus in the form of concessions from Central and State governments and airport operators and (2) Viability Gap Funding\u2013 A government grant provided to the airlines to bridge the gap between the cost of operations and expected revenue.<\/li>\n<li>The partner State Governments (other than North Eastern States and Union Territories where contribution will be 10 %) would contribute a 20% share to this fund.<\/li>\n<li>Regional Connectivity Fund would be created to meet the viability gap funding requirements under the scheme.The RCF levy per departure will be applied to certain domestic flights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Phases Under the Scheme:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>UDAN 1.0 and 2.0:\u00a0<\/strong>During RCS-UDAN version 1.0 &amp; 2.0, 66 airports were identified and 31 heliports (28 unserved heliports and 3 unserved airports).<\/li>\n<li><strong>UDAN 3.0:\u00a0<\/strong>During UDAN version 3.0, to increase the tourism potential at the coastal areas, Tourism routes in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Seaplanes for connecting Water Aerodromes were included.<\/li>\n<li><strong>UDAN 4.0:\u00a0<\/strong>The focus of UDAN 4.0 is on priority areas like North East Region, Hilly States, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Islands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1688549\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Article Source<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:\u00a0Government has inaugurated the newly constructed Hisar airport in Haryana from Chandigarh under the Regional Connectivity Scheme \u2013 Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN).
