{"id":78067,"date":"2021-01-25T11:07:38","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T05:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=78067"},"modified":"2021-03-01T12:45:13","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T07:15:13","slug":"smart-anti-airfield-weapon-saaw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/smart-anti-airfield-weapon-saaw\/","title":{"rendered":"Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon (SAAW)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Why in News?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO) has conducted a successful trial of the indigenously developed Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon (SAAW) off the Odisha coast from the Hawk-I jet of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited(HAL).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon(SAAW): <\/strong>It is a long-range precision-guided anti-airfield weapon developed by DRDO\u2019s Research Centre Imarat (RCI) Hyderabad.<\/li>\n<li>The weapon is designed to strike ground targets, especially adversary airfield infrastructure or similar strategically important installations.<\/li>\n<li>The weapon is capable of engaging ground enemies airfield assets such as radars, bunkers, taxi tracks, and runways up to a range of 100 kilometres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>RUDRAM: <\/strong>It is India\u2019s first indigenous anti-radiation air-to-surface missile for Indian Air Force(IAF).
