{"id":79,"date":"2019-02-05T12:23:31","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T06:53:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=79"},"modified":"2019-02-05T12:23:31","modified_gmt":"2019-02-05T06:53:31","slug":"67-cancer-patients-in-se-asia-die-before-70-who","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/67-cancer-patients-in-se-asia-die-before-70-who\/","title":{"rendered":"67% cancer patients in SE Asia die before 70: WHO"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>According to WHO Southeast Asia, 67% of cancer\npatients in the South-East Asia die before the age of 70 years.<\/li><li>In 2018, 18.1 million new cases of cancer were\ndiagnosed globally while 9.6 million people succumbed to the disease- 70% of\nwhich occurred in low and middle income countries.<\/li><li>Availability of cancer treatment services is abysmally\nlow with only 30% of low income countries providing treatment facilities.<\/li><li>26% of low-income countries provide pathology\nservices at public hospitals, the absence of which leads to late diagnosis and\na lower chance of successful treatment.<\/li><li>According to National Institute of Cancer\nPrevention and Research (NICPR), India, a) one woman dies of cervical cancer\nevery eight minutes in India, b) for every two women newly diagnosed with\nbreast cancer, one woman dies of it, c) 2,500 persons die every day due to\ntobacco-related diseases, d) more than 3 lakh people died of tobacco use in\n2018.<\/li><li>Effective cancer screening is the first step\ntowards successful treatment and necessitates cancer screening services to be made\navailable at primary and secondary healthcare facilities in India.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to WHO Southeast Asia, 67% of cancer patients in the South-East Asia die before the age of 70 years.
