However the firms have not yet registered at the online portal and\ndisclosed their disposal plans. <\/li><li>The Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 offer\ndirectives to urban local bodies and Gram Panchayats on segregation, collection,\ntransportation, processing and disposal of plastic waste in their areas of jurisdiction.\nThe rules also mandate producers, importers, waste generators and retailers to\nmanage such waste.<\/li><li>According to Central Pollution Control Board\n(CPCB) estimates in 2015, Indian cities generate about 15,000 tonnes of plastic\nwaste per day and about 70% of the plastic produced in the country ends up as\nwaste. <\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has criticised 52 firms for flouting Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (amended in 2018).
