{"id":8101,"date":"2019-07-16T16:26:16","date_gmt":"2019-07-16T10:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=8101"},"modified":"2019-07-16T16:26:16","modified_gmt":"2019-07-16T10:56:16","slug":"12-indian-beaches-in-the-race-to-crest-the-blue-flag-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/12-indian-beaches-in-the-race-to-crest-the-blue-flag-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"12 Indian beaches in the race to crest the \u2018Blue Flag\u2019 challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Union Environment Ministry has selected 12\nbeaches in India to compete for the \u2018Blue Flag\u2019 certification.<\/li><li>The 12 beaches include: Shivrajpur (Gujarat),\nBhogave (Maharashtra), Ghoghla (Diu), Miramar (Goa), Kasarkod and Padubidri\n(Karnataka), Kappad (Kerala), Eden (Puducherry), Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu),\nRushikonda (Andhra Pradesh), Golden (Odisha), and Radhanagar (Andaman &amp;\nNicobar Islands).<\/li><li>The Blue Flag certification is given to\nenvironmental- friendly, clean beaches, marinas which are equipped with\namenities of international standards for tourist. <\/li><li>There are 33 environment and tourism-related\nconditions for Blue Flag Certification. Few of them include, having proper waste\ndisposal system, availability of clean water for tourists, disabled friendly\netc.<\/li><li>The Blue Flag Programme for beaches and marinas\nis run by FEE (the Foundation for Environmental Education) &#8211; a Copenhagen based\ninternational, non-governmental, non-profit organisation. The programme was\nfirst started in France in 1985. <\/li><li>Spain has the highest number of Blue Flag beaches,\nfollowed by, Greece and France. Japan and South Korea are the only countries in\nAsia to have Blue Flag beaches. <\/li><li>Society of Integrated Coastal Management (SICOM)\nunder the Union Environment Ministry had conceived an integrated coastal\nmanagement scheme named BEAMS (Beach Management Services).<\/li><li>The main objective of BEAMS programme is to\nreduce pollutants, promote sustainable development and strive for high\nstandards in the areas of a) environmental management b) environmental\neducation c) bathing water quality and d) safety &amp; security services\nscientifically.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Union Environment Ministry has selected 12 beaches in India to compete for the \u2018Blue Flag\u2019 certification.
