  2. Maternal\nmortality refers to the number of maternal deaths which occur due to pregnancy\nor as a result of a complication of the same. Maternal mortality rate (MMR) is\ntaken as the number of recorded maternal deaths, for every 1 lakh live births.<\/li>

According\nto the Sample Registration System\u2019s special bulletin on \u2018Maternal Mortality in\nIndia 2014-16\u2019, the MMR across India was 130 per 1, 00,000 live births.\nHowever, in Telangana the MMR dropped from 92 per 1, 00,000 live births in\n2011-\u201913 to 81 per 1, 00,000 live births in 2014-\u201916. The lowest MMR of 46 was\nrecorded in Kerala, followed by 61 in Maharashtra. <\/li>
  4. United\nNations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3.1) calls to reduce MMR to less\nthan 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030.<\/li>
  5. Telangana\nhad launched KCR Kit scheme in 2017. The kit is equipped with 16 essential\nitems for a mother and her new-born. It also has a cash component of Rs 13,000\nfor the birth of a girl and Rs 12,000 for the birth of a boy.<\/li>
