However, it accounts for 68% of deaths in children of the age group.<\/li><li>Bihar and Assam have the highest malnutrition levels\nin the country.<\/li><li>Among the malnutrition indicators, low birth\nweight is the biggest contributor to disease burden followed by child growth\nfailure which includes stunting, underweight and wasting.<\/li><li>Disease burden rate, attributable to\nmalnutrition in children, varies seven-fold between the states. States like\nRajasthan, UP, Bihar and Assam top the list while Kerala and Tamil Nadu have\nthe lowest disease burden.<\/li><li>India will miss Poshan Abhiyan target for\nstunting levels by 9.6%; underweight target by 4.8%; desired low birth level by\n8.9%; anaemia level among women by 13.8%; and anaemia level among children by\n11.7%.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional\nInformation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>POSHAN Abhiyan (National\nNutrition mission) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It was launched in 2018 and is implemented by\nthe Ministry of Women and Child development.<\/li><li>The mission aims to ensure attainment of\nmalnutrition free India by 2022.&nbsp; It\nseeks to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women,\nmothers and children.<\/li><li>It targets to reduce stunting, under- nutrition,\nanaemia (among young children, women and adolescent girls) and reduce low birth\nweight by 2%, 2%, 3% and 2% per annum respectively. It would strive to achieve\nreduction in Stunting from 38.4% (NFHS-4) to 25% by 2022<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Stunting-\nlow height for age, Wasting- low weight compared to height, Underweight- low\nweight for age.
