{"id":84957,"date":"2020-03-10T14:53:06","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T09:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=14186"},"modified":"2020-03-10T14:53:06","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T09:23:06","slug":"kyasanur-forest-disease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/kyasanur-forest-disease\/","title":{"rendered":"Kyasanur Forest Disease"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>Recently,the Karnataka State government has allocated \u20b915 crore to set up a research centre on Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) in Sagar,Karnataka.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Kyasanur Forest Disease(KFD):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>KFD is caused by Kyasanur Forest disease Virus(KFDV), a member of the virus family Flaviviridae.<\/li><li>The disease was first identified in 1957 in a sick monkey from the Kyasanur Forest in Karnataka.Since then,between 400-500 human cases per year have been reported.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transmission:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Rodents, shrews and monkeys are common hosts for KFDV after being bitten by an infected tick.<\/li><li>Transmission to humans may occur after a tick bite or contact with an infected animal, most importantly a sick or recently dead monkey.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Symptoms:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>After an incubation period of 3-8 days, the symptoms like chills, fever, headache, severe muscle pain, vomiting, gastrointestinal symptoms and bleeding may occur.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Patients may also experience abnormally low blood pressure, and low platelet, red blood cell, and white blood cell counts.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Treatment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There is no specific treatment for the disease but however vaccine is available.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:Recently,the Karnataka State government has allocated \u20b915 crore to set up a research centre on Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) in Sagar,Karnataka.
