The treatment is called\nGlial Cell Line Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF). GDNF is made by\nprivately-held Canadian biotech firm MedGenesis Therapeutix.<\/li><li>Clinical trials&nbsp;are scientific studies\nconducted to find better ways to prevent, screen for, diagnose, or treat\ndisease. Clinical trials&nbsp;study\nhow safe and helpful tests and treatments are.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Parkinson\u2019s is a neurodegenerative disease. Parkinson\u2019s\ndisease affects the nerve cells in the brain that produce dopamine. It causes\ntremors, muscle stiffness and movement and balance problems.&nbsp;Although some\nmedicines can improve symptoms, there is no cure or treatment that can slow\nprogression of the disease.
