  1. ISRO\u2019s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), in\nits 47th mission (PSLV-C45) has launched EMISAT, from Satish Dhawan Space\nCentre, Sriharikota in coastal Andhra Pradesh. EMISAT is India\u2019s first electronic\nsurveillance satellite.<\/li>
  2. EMISAT is a satellite built around ISRO\u2019s Mini\nSatellite-2 bus weighing about 436 kg. It has been jointly developed by ISRO\nand Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). It has been developed\nunder DRDO’s Project Kautilya which aims to boost India’s space surveillance\ncapacity.<\/li>
  3. The satellite is intended for electromagnetic\nspectrum measurement. It will provide location and information of hostile\nradars and sensors deployed along the Indian borders. It will also help in\nknowing exact topography of enemy areas and detect communication devices active\nin an area.<\/li>
  4. Space-based electronic intelligence or ELINT\nfrom the EMISAT is an addition to India\u2019s current land or aircraft-based ELINT,\nand will help India\u2019s intelligence agencies better monitor hostile activities\nin border areas.<\/li>
  5. The PSLV-C45 mission has marked several \u201cfirsts\u201d\nfor ISRO. For the first time, ISRO has placed the satellites and payloads in\nthree different orbits. A new variant of the rocket, PSLV-QL, with four\nstrap-on boosters has been used for the launch for the first time. It is also\nthe first time PSLV fourth stage (PS4) used solar panels to support payloads\nhosted on it.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
