Chan School of\nPublic Health has reported that popular electronic cigarette (e-cigarette)\nproducts sold in the U.S. were contaminated with bacterial and fungal toxins. The\nstudy has been published online in <em>Environmental\nHealth Perspectives.<\/em><\/li><li>The study had examined 75 popular e-cigarette\nproducts and found that 27% contained traces of endotoxin and 81% contained\ntraces of glucan.<\/li><li>Endotoxin is a microbial agent found on\nGram-negative bacteria. Glucan is found in the cell walls of most fungi. Exposure\nto these microbial toxins has been associated to a number of health problems\nsuch as asthma, reduced lung function, and inflammation.<\/li><li>E-cigarettes are battery- operated devices that\ndo not burn or use tobacco leaves but instead vaporise a solution, which a user\nthen inhales. The solutions contain propylene glycol, nicotine etc. which pose\nsignificant health risks, including cancer.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new research from Harvard T.H.
