{"id":85342,"date":"2019-09-24T17:43:32","date_gmt":"2019-09-24T12:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=10365"},"modified":"2019-09-24T17:43:32","modified_gmt":"2019-09-24T12:13:32","slug":"head-on-generation-hog-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/head-on-generation-hog-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Head on Generation (HOG) technology"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>The Railway Ministry has announced that it would be upgrading all existing Linke Hofmann Busch(LHB) coaches with the Head on Generation (HOG) technology.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About HOG technology:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In HOG Technology,the power will be drawn from the overhead electric supply.<\/li><li>The power supply from the overhead cable is 750 volts at single-phase, and a transformer with a winding of 945 kVA converts it to a 750 Volts 50 Hz output at 3-phase.This energy is then provided to the compartments.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>End on Generation technology(EOG):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Under the EOG system,the train\u2019s \u2018hotel load\u2019 which is the load of air conditioning, lights, fans, and pantry is provided with electricity from two large diesel generator sets which supply 3-phase power at 750 Volts 50 Hz to the entire length of the train.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits of HOG technology over EOG:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the End on Generation technology(EOG)<strong>,<\/strong>power generator cars used to make huge noise and emit fumes which will no longer be there.<\/li><li>In place of two such generator cars, HOG will have one standby silent generator car to be used for emergency.&nbsp;<\/li><li>HOG technology has low Operating price per unit of electricity as compared to the EOG system.<\/li><li>HOG technology will have reduced number of generating equipment, low maintenance requirements, reduced dead weight as compared to EOG system.<\/li><li>Further,the HOG system will also generate less air pollution and Noise pollution when compared to EOG system.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional information:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About LHB Coaches:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches are the passenger coaches of Indian Railways that have been developed by Linke-Hofmann-Busch of Germany.<\/li><li>These coaches are produced in the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, Punjab.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:The Railway Ministry has announced that it would be upgrading all existing Linke Hofmann Busch(LHB) coaches with the Head on Generation (HOG) technology.
