This would be\nthe fourth seismometer to be installed in Palghar. Earthquakes are measured\nwith a seismometer, commonly known as a seismograph.<\/li><li>Palghar\ndistrict has been witnessing an unusual frequency of earthquakes since\nNovember, 2018. This had led to the establishment of three temporary field\nstations of the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) to observe and record the\nseismic activity. Recently, on March 1<sup>st<\/sup> 2019, Palghar was hit by an\nearthquake measuring 4.3 on the moment magnitude (Mw) scale- the first time the\nmagnitude crossed 4 in Palghar.<\/li><li>Previously,\nscientists had estimated that Palghar could see a \u2018maximum credible earthquake\u2019\nor MCE measuring Mw 6.5.
