{"id":85704,"date":"2020-02-26T15:47:10","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T10:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=13942"},"modified":"2021-02-27T16:54:18","modified_gmt":"2021-02-27T11:24:18","slug":"conference-on-coastal-disaster-risk-reduction-and-resiliencecdrrr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/conference-on-coastal-disaster-risk-reduction-and-resiliencecdrrr\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference on Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience(CDRR&#038;R)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>Union Minister of State for Home Affairs has presided over the session of the 1st \u2018National Conference on Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience \u2013 2020\u2019.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the conference:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Organized by the National Institute of Disaster Management(NIDM).<\/li><li><strong>Aim:<\/strong>To explore and debate the most recent advances in the discipline, to enhance the understanding of the issues and solutions on various facets for coastal disaster risk reduction and resilience.<\/li><li>It also focussed on enhancing human capacity about coastal disaster risks and effective collaborative actions by implementing Prime Minister\u2019s 10-point agenda and Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional information:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prime minister 10 Point agenda on Disaster reduction:<\/strong>It was outlined at the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in 2016:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All development sectors must imbibe the principles of disaster risk management.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Work towards risk coverage for all &#8211; starting from poor households to SMEs to multinational corporations to nation states.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Encourage greater involvement and leadership of women in disaster risk management.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Invest in risk mapping globally.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Leverage technology to enhance the efficiency of disaster risk management efforts.<\/li><li>Develop a network of universities to work on disaster issues as they have social responsibilities too.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Utilise the opportunities provided by social media and mobile technologies and recognise the potential of social media and develop applications for all aspects of disaster risk management.<\/li><li>Build on local capacity and initiative.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Ensure that the opportunity to learn from a disaster must not be wasted.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Bring about greater cohesion in international response to disasters.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Sendai Framework:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Adopted in 2015 at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.<\/li><li>It is a 15-year voluntary, non-binding agreement on disaster risk reduction.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About NIDM:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>NIDM is a premier institute of the Government of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs.It was constituted under the Disaster Management Act 2005.<\/li><li>It has the responsibility for human resource development, capacity building, training, research, documentation and policy advocacy in the field of disaster management.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:Union Minister of State for Home Affairs has presided over the session of the 1st \u2018National Conference on Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience \u2013 2020\u2019.
