  1. The\n4th National Tiger Estimation (Tiger census) has designated Madhya Pradesh’s\nPench sanctuary and Kerala\u2019s Periyar sanctuary as best managed Tiger Reserves\nin India.<\/li>
  2. The\nDampa Tiger Reserve in Mizoram and Rajaji Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand emerged\nas worst managed tiger reserves in the country. <\/li>
  3. For\nthe Census, the tiger bearing habitats were divided into five landscape\nregions\u2014a) Shivalik-Gangetic plains, b) Central India and the Eastern Ghats, c)\nWestern Ghats, d) North Eastern Hills and Brahmaputra Flood Plains and e) the\nSundarbans.<\/li>
  4. Highest\nnumber of tigers were found in Central India and Eastern Ghats followed by\nWestern Ghats. <\/li>
  5. In\nIndia, there are 50 tiger reserves spread over 18 states. Tiger Reserves are\nprotected areas established under the Project Tiger. <\/li>
  6. Project\nTiger was launched by the Government of India in the year 1973 to save the\nendangered species of tiger in the country.  Jim Corbett in\nUttarakhand is the first Tiger Reserve to be established under project Tiger. <\/li>
  7. Tiger\nReserve aims at conserving the habitat to ensure a viable population of the\ntigers along with their prey base in their habitat.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
