{"id":86364,"date":"2019-11-23T15:48:46","date_gmt":"2019-11-23T10:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=11856"},"modified":"2019-11-23T15:48:46","modified_gmt":"2019-11-23T10:18:46","slug":"central-road-and-infrastructure-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/central-road-and-infrastructure-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Road and Infrastructure Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways has informed Lok Sabha about the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Central Road and Infrastructure Fund:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Central Road and Infrastructure Fund which was earlier known as Central Road Fund(CRF) was established under the Central Road Fund Act,2000<\/li><li>The fund is basically a cess imposed along with excise duty on petrol and diesel.<\/li><li>The cess revenue was accrued to the CRF which was uniquely created and out of this major road projects were financed ever since its launch.<\/li><li>The administrative control of Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) is under the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA),finance Ministry.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Earlier, it was under the domain of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional information:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Central Road Fund Amendment act,2018:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Budget 2018,Government had amended the Central Road Fund Act, 2000 and had renamed the Central Road Fund as Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).<\/li><li>The main purpose of the amendment is to use the proceeds of the road cess under CRIF to finance other infrastructure projects including waterways, railway infrastructure, social infrastructure among others.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Cess:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A cess is a tax that is levied by the government to raise funds for a specific purpose.<\/li><li>The Cess is not a permanent source of revenue for the government and it is discontinued when the purpose levying it is fulfilled.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways has informed Lok Sabha about the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund.
