{"id":86392,"date":"2019-12-16T17:05:01","date_gmt":"2019-12-16T11:35:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=12399"},"modified":"2019-12-16T17:05:01","modified_gmt":"2019-12-16T11:35:01","slug":"brics-ndb-pledges-100%e2%80%8a-million-to-niif","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/brics-ndb-pledges-100%e2%80%8a-million-to-niif\/","title":{"rendered":"BRICS\u2019 NDB pledges $100\u200a million to NIIF"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>Recently,New Development Bank(NDB) has committed $100 million to India\u2019s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund(NIIF).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About NDB:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The New Development Bank(NDB) formerly referred to as the BRICS Development Bank is a multilateral development bank established by the BRICS states (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).<\/li><li>The bank was founded in 2014 but was was launched in 2015 with an initial authorized capital of $100 billion.The bank is headquartered in Shanghai,China.<\/li><li>The bank aims to contribute to development plans established nationally through projects that are socially, environmentally and economically sustainable.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objectives of the Bank:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Promote infrastructure and sustainable development projects with a significant development impact in member countries.<\/li><li>Establish an extensive network of global partnerships with other multilateral development institutions and national development banks.<\/li><li>Build a balanced project portfolio giving a proper respect to their geographic location, financing requirements and other factors.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Membership:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The bank functions on a consultative mechanism among the BRICS members with all the BRICS member countries possessing equal rights.<\/li><li>The bank\u2019s agreement specifies that all members of the United Nations could be members of the bank.However,the share of the BRICS nations can never be less than 55% of the voting power.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional information:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About NIIF:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>NIIF is India\u2019s first sovereign wealth fund set up by the government of India in 2015.It is a fund manager that invests in infrastructure and related sectors in India.<\/li><li>It was created with the objective to maximise economic impact especially by infrastructure investment in commercially viable projects.<\/li><li>The Indian government has a 49% stake in NIIF with the rest held by foreign and domestic investors.<\/li><li>NIIF currently manages three funds each with its distinctive investment mandate.
