{"id":86585,"date":"2020-08-07T13:44:59","date_gmt":"2020-08-07T08:14:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=16763"},"modified":"2020-08-07T13:44:59","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T08:14:59","slug":"reserve-bank-of-indiasrbi-monetary-policy-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/reserve-bank-of-indiasrbi-monetary-policy-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Reserve Bank of India\u2019s(RBI) monetary policy review"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News: <\/strong>The Reserve Bank of India has released its monetary policy committee (MPC) report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Repo Rate<\/strong>:It is the rate at which the RBI lends money to the banks for a short term.It remains unchanged at 4%.<\/li><li><strong>Reverse Repo Rate<\/strong>:It is the short term borrowing rate at which RBI borrows money from banks.It remains unchanged at 3.35%<\/li><li><strong>Marginal Standing facility: <\/strong>It is a window for banks to borrow from the Reserve Bank of India in an emergency situation when interbank liquidity dries up completely.It has remained unchanged at 4.25%.<\/li><li><strong>Additional credit support for housing and rural sectors: <\/strong>RBI will provide<strong> <\/strong>additional special liquidity facility of Rs 10,000 crore to NABARD &amp; NHB to improve fund availability.<\/li><li><strong>Priority Sector Lending(PSL): <\/strong>RBI has brought startups under the purview of priority sector lending(PSL).It has also increased borrowing limits of the renewable energy sector.<\/li><li><strong>Innovation Hub:<\/strong> RBI will set up an Innovation Hub to further promote and facilitate an environment that can accelerate innovation across the financial sector.<\/li><li><strong>KV Kamath Committee: <\/strong>RBI has set up a committee under KV Kamath, to make recommendations on the required financial parameters along with the sector-specific benchmark ranges for one time restructuring of loans.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Monetary Policy Committee(MPC): <\/strong>It is a committee of the Reserve Bank of India which consists of six members with three nominated by the Union government and three representing the RBI.<\/li><li>It is mandated by law to ensure that retail inflation stays within a band of two percentage points of the target inflation rate of 4%.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Reserve Bank of India has released its monetary policy committee (MPC) report.
