{"id":86591,"date":"2020-08-26T19:17:41","date_gmt":"2020-08-26T13:47:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=17099"},"modified":"2020-08-26T19:17:41","modified_gmt":"2020-08-26T13:47:41","slug":"rbi-annual-report-2019-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/rbi-annual-report-2019-20\/","title":{"rendered":"RBI Annual Report 2019-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News: <\/strong>Reserve Bank of India(RBI) has released its Annual Report 2019-20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/48hueGIYCwAFAHC-9zdIqp24gcIve7mHs5UTlX-qs4am4scKvgq-GiqAKVC_mOhIbtsKuEZ0F7uYqcoF3Puz9gh6bJPksfHiQmVPlVrTTlNVujVuhon4QUByh30SpSEtbCXODWCY\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Balance sheet of RBI: <\/strong>The balance sheet of RBI has increased by 30%, due to increase in domestic and foreign investments, loans, advances and in gold.<\/li><li><strong>Economic Growth: <\/strong>The<strong> <\/strong>economy is expected to contract and is expected to take some time to regain the pre-Covid momentum as the shock to consumption is severe and the poorest have been hit the hardest.<\/li><li><strong>Inequity: <\/strong>The<strong> <\/strong>pandemic has exposed new inequities \u2014 white collar employees can work from home while essential workers have to work on site exposed to the risk of getting infected.<\/li><li><strong>Investment: <\/strong>RBI has suggested targeted public investment funded by asset monetisation and privatisation of major ports as a viable way to revive the economy.<\/li><li><strong>Frauds: <\/strong>The<strong> <\/strong>frauds reported by banks of \u20b91 lakh and above have increased by 28% by volume and 159% by value during 2019-20.Public sector banks accounted for 80% of the frauds followed by private sector banks at 18%.<\/li><li><strong>Currency in Circulation: <\/strong>Since March 2020, currency in circulation has risen to 26.9 lakh crore\u2014a hike of 10% since the lockdown began as pandemic has triggered a \u2018dash to cash\u2019 with many households hoarding bank notes.However,the number of Rs 2000 notes in circulation has dipped sharply in last two years.<\/li><li><strong>Fake Notes: <\/strong>The number of fake notes in Rs 500 denomination has increased in 2019-20.However,there has been a decline in the overall number of counterfeit notes detected compared to the previous year.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Reserve Bank of India(RBI) has released its Annual Report 2019-20.
