The Court has further expressed concerns over the Haryana government\u2019s decision\nto allow construction in forest areas of Aravalli zone. <\/li><li>The\nPLPA 2019 was recently passed by the Haryana government. The Act amends the\nPLPA 1900. It permits construction activities in areas that were protected as\nforests under PLPA 1900.<\/li><li>According\nto critics, the act is a violation of several Supreme Court orders, in which it\nhas been stated that areas under PLPA are deemed forest. Environmentalists have\nexpressed concerns that the amendments would allow illegal mining and real\nestate development in the Aravalli area, perpetuating environmental degradation.<\/li><li>Aravalli\nare the oldest mountain range in India. It spreads across the states of\nGujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi.<\/li><li>The\nAravalli fold mountains is particularly significant for it\u2019s a) role in prevention\nof the spread of the Thar Desert towards&nbsp;eastern Rajasthan, Indo Gangetic plains,\nHaryana and Western UP, b) ground water recharge function, c) blocking\ndust storms approaching&nbsp;and d) ecological balance: It has forested\npatches: Haryana\u2019s five forest divisions- Gurgaon, Mewat, Mahendergarh, Faridabad\nand Rewari- still have more than 465sqkm of total forest area.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court has stayed the Punjab Land Preservation (Haryana amendment) Act, 2019.
