The weed is commonly known as \u2018doublegee\u2019, \u2018three corner\njack\u2019 or \u2018spiny emex\u2019.<\/li><li>The invasive weed belongs to the family Polygonaceae.&nbsp; It is native to Australia and South Africa.<\/li><li>The weed prospers in in conditions such as\ndrought and unseasonal rain and climate change help increase its numbers. The\nweed has the potential to damage wheat crops and reduce its productivity in\nIndia.<\/li><li>The weed was first reported in India in Santhal\nPargana division of erstwhile united Bihar in 1984 and in Jammu &amp; Kashmir\nin 1987. In 2016, it was reported from upper Gangetic plains in Uttar Pradesh.<\/li><li>Recently, an invasive weed called \u2018Onion Weed\u2019\nor Asphodelus Fistulosus invaded onion farms in Ahmadnagar and Aurangabad\ndistricts in Maharashtra.<\/li><li>The weed is a native of North Africa, Southern\nEurope and West Asia. It looks like an onion plant.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe weed can potentially damage India\u2019s\nself-sufficiency in onion production.
