The microplastics had been carried by the wind and\nlater washed out in the snow. The study has been published in the journal\nScience Advances.<\/li><li>The high microplastic concentrations in snow has\nindicated significant contamination of the atmosphere. <\/li><li>This has raised concerns about potential health\nrisk to people and animals from inhalation of microplastic contaminated air. A\nrecent report titled \u201cNew Plastics Economy Report\u201d, had noted that an\nindividual consumes about 250 grams annually.<\/li><li>Microplastics are plastics which are less than\nfive mm in diameter in size. Sources of micro plastic include clothing,\ncosmetics, industrial processes etc.<\/li><li>Scientists have discovered micro plastics in a\nremote area of the Pyrenees Mountains, which runs between France and Spain.\nOther recent studies have found micro plastics in farmland soils near Shanghai,\nChina, in the Gal\u00e1pagos Islands (a UNESCO world heritage site), and in rivers\nin the Czech Republic.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scientists have detected microplastic particles in the Arctic and the Alps.
