{"id":86946,"date":"2019-08-29T18:05:15","date_gmt":"2019-08-29T12:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=9645"},"modified":"2019-08-29T18:05:15","modified_gmt":"2019-08-29T12:35:15","slug":"talks-on-global-plan-to-protect-biodiversity-begin-in-nairobi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/talks-on-global-plan-to-protect-biodiversity-begin-in-nairobi\/","title":{"rendered":"Talks on global plan to protect biodiversity begin in Nairobi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Government officials, experts and activists from\nat least 100 countries began talks in Nairobi, Kenya to move towards a new\nglobal framework on biodiversity, post-2020.<\/li><li>The 196 Parties of the United Nations Convention\non Biological Diversity are expected to adopt the new framework during their\n15th Conference of the Parties (COP 15), scheduled for October 2020 in Kunming,\nChina.<\/li><li>The framework represents the global plan to halt\nthe alarming trends in the state of nature which has been highlighted by recent\nreports such as IPBES Global Assessment Report, the Intergovernmental Panel on\nClimate Change\u2019s Special Report on Climate Change and Land<\/li><li>The framework aims to set the world on the path\ntowards living in harmony with nature by 2050. It builds on the UN Convention\u2019s\ncurrent Strategic Plan on Biodiversity (2011-2020)<\/li><li>Recently, scientists have proposed a time-bound,\nscience-based policy, titled \u201cA Global Deal for Nature (GDN)\u201d, to save the\ndiversity and abundance of life on Earth.<\/li><li>Signed at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, the\nConvention on Biological Diversity is dedicated to promoting sustainable\ndevelopment.
