Further, start-ups would also participate in the project.<\/li><li>The main aim of the project is to indicate the\ntype of \u201ccontamination\u201d (sewage and industrial) in the river and threat to human\nhealth (antibiotic resistance surge) they possess. It would seek to identify\nsources of Eschericia coli- a type of bacteria that lives in the gut of animals\nand humans. <\/li><li>According to 2014 study, cultural activities\nsuch as mass bathing in Ganga during religious mass gathering occasions, levels\nof resistance genes that lead to \u201csuperbugs\u201d were about 60 times greater than\nother times. This give arise to concerns over potential acquisition and spread\nof antibiotic-resistant bacteria.<\/li><li>A 2017 report commissioned by the Union\nDepartment of Biotechnology and the U.K. Research Council underlined that India\nhad some of the highest antibiotic resistance rates among bacteria that\ncommonly cause infections.<\/li><li>Antibiotic resistance is a subtype of\nantimicrobial resistance.
