{"id":86993,"date":"2019-10-05T14:41:59","date_gmt":"2019-10-05T09:11:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=10667"},"modified":"2019-10-05T14:41:59","modified_gmt":"2019-10-05T09:11:59","slug":"e-waste-clinic-in-madhya-pradesh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/e-waste-clinic-in-madhya-pradesh\/","title":{"rendered":"E-Waste Clinic in Madhya Pradesh"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong> The Bhopal\nMunicipal Corporation (BMC) and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) have\nsigned a MoU <strong>to<\/strong> set up India\u2019s first\ne-waste clinic in Bhopal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The e-waste clinic would enable segregation,\nprocessing and disposal of waste from both household and commercial units.<\/li><li>Electronic waste will be collected door-to-door\nor could be deposited directly at the clinic in exchange for a fee.<\/li><li>Door-to-door collection will happen in two ways.\nEither separate carts for the collection of e-waste will be designed, or\nseparate bins will be attached to existing ones meant for solid and wet waste.<\/li><li>It e-waste clinic in Bhopal would be a 3-month\npilot project, which, if successful, will be replicated everywhere in India.<\/li><li>The clinic is being conceived in compliance with\nthe Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional\nInformation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>E-waste:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Electronic waste, or e-waste, is a term for\nelectronic products that have become unwanted, obsolete, and have reached the\nend of their useful life. <\/li><li>It refers to all items of electrical and\nelectronic equipment (EEE) and its parts that have been discarded by its owner\nas waste without the intent of re-use.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>E-Waste (Management)\nRules, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The rules extend to Producer, consumer,\ncollection centre, dismantler and recycler manufacturer, dealer, refurbisher\nand Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO). However, micro and small\nindustries are exempted.<\/li><li>The applicability of the rules extends to\nvarious electronic equipment\/products, components, consumables, spares and\nparts of EEE. Further, Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) and other mercury\ncontaining lamp brought under the purview of rules.<\/li><li>The Rules adopt collection-based approach to\ninclude collection centre, collection point, take back system etc for\ncollection of e &#8211; waste by Producers under Extended Producer Responsibility\n(EPR).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Solid Waste Management\nRules, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Rules are applicable beyond Municipal areas and extend to urban agglomerations, census towns, notified industrial townships, areas under the control of Indian Railways, airports, airbase, Port and harbour, defence establishments, special economic zones, State and Central government organizations, places of pilgrims, religious &amp; historical importance.<\/li><li>The source segregation of waste is mandated to channelize the waste to wealth by recovery, reuse and recycle.<\/li><li>Responsibilities of Generators is mandated to segregate waste into three streams:<ul><li>Wet (Biodegradable),<\/li><li>Dry (Plastic, Paper, metal, wood, etc.) and<\/li><li>Domestic hazardous wastes (diapers, napkins, empty containers of cleaning agents, mosquito repellents, etc.)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) have signed a MoU to set up India\u2019s first e-waste clinic in Bhopal.
