{"id":87048,"date":"2019-11-30T16:03:26","date_gmt":"2019-11-30T10:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=12065"},"modified":"2019-11-30T16:03:26","modified_gmt":"2019-11-30T10:33:26","slug":"petrol-minsatat-initiative-to-promote-compressed-biogas-as-green-fuel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/petrol-minsatat-initiative-to-promote-compressed-biogas-as-green-fuel\/","title":{"rendered":"Petrol Min:SATAT initiative to promote Compressed Biogas as green fuel"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas has informed the Lok Sabha that<strong> <\/strong>SATAT initiative has the potential of addressing environmental problems arising from stubble burning.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About SATAT initiative:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>SATAT stands for Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation(SATAT).<\/li><li>The initiative aims to promote Compressed Biogas as an alternative, green transport fuel.It would benefit both vehicle-users as well as farmers and entrepreneurs.<\/li><li>The potential for Compressed Biogas production from various sources in India is estimated at about 62 million tonnes per annum.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Features of the initiative:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Compressed Biogas(CBG) plants are proposed to be set up mainly through independent entrepreneurs.<\/li><li>CBG produced at these plants will be transported through cascades of cylinders to the fuel station networks of OMCs for marketing as a green transport fuel alternative.<\/li><li>The entrepreneurs would then be able to separately market the other by-products from these plants including bio-manure, carbon-dioxide to enhance returns on investment.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Significance of the initiative:<\/strong>There are multiple benefits from converting agricultural residue, cattle dung and municipal solid waste into CBG on a commercial scale which are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Responsible waste management, reduction in carbon emissions and pollution&nbsp;<\/li><li>Additional revenue source for farmers<\/li><li>Boost to entrepreneurship, rural economy and employment<\/li><li>Support to national commitments in achieving climate change goals<\/li><li>Reduction in import of natural gas and crude oil<\/li><li>Buffer against crude oil\/gas price fluctuations<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional information:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About BioGas:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bio-gas is produced naturally through a process of anaerobic decomposition from waste \/ biomass sources.<\/li><li>These include agriculture residue, cattle dung, sugarcane press mud, municipal solid waste, sewage treatment plant waste among others.<\/li><li>After purification,it is compressed and called CBG which has pure methane content of over 95%.<\/li><li>Compressed Biogas is exactly similar to the commercially available natural gas in its composition and energy potential.Hence,it can be used as alternative, renewable automotive fuel.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas has informed the Lok Sabha that SATAT initiative has the potential of addressing environmental problems arising from stubble burning.
