{"id":87071,"date":"2019-12-14T11:56:26","date_gmt":"2019-12-14T06:26:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=12367"},"modified":"2019-12-14T11:56:26","modified_gmt":"2019-12-14T06:26:26","slug":"national-afforestation-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/national-afforestation-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"National Afforestation Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News<\/strong>: Ministry of Environment, Forest &amp; Climate Change informed Lok Sabha about National Afforestation Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About National Afforestation Programme (2000):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aim<\/strong>: Sustainable development and management of forest resources<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ecological restoration of degraded forests<\/li><li>Improve livelihoods of the forest-fringe communities<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Implementation:<\/strong> It is implemented by three tier institutional setup through<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>State Forest Development Agency (SFDA) at the state level,<\/li><li>Forest Development Agency (FDA) at the forest division level&nbsp;<\/li><li>Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) at village level.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <strong>National Forest Policy, 1988<\/strong>: It aims to maintain 33% of total geographical area under forest and tree cover to prevent soil erosion, land degradation and maintain ecological balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <strong>National Mission for a Green India (GIM), 2015:<\/strong> It is one of the eight missions launched under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC). It targets increasing the forest and tree cover by 5 million ha, and increasing the quality of the existing forest and tree cover in another 5 million ha of forest\/ non forest lands in 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <strong>National Green Highways Mission, 2016: <\/strong>It aims to provide a green canopy along 100,000km of highways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <strong>Nagar Van-udyan Yojana, 2015: <\/strong>It aims to create \u201ccity forest\u201d in each City with Municipal Council.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Ministry of Environment, Forest &amp; Climate Change informed Lok Sabha about National Afforestation Programme.
