{"id":87169,"date":"2020-02-25T15:44:37","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T10:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=13939"},"modified":"2020-02-25T15:44:37","modified_gmt":"2020-02-25T10:14:37","slug":"biodiversity-management-committeesbmc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/biodiversity-management-committeesbmc\/","title":{"rendered":"Biodiversity management committees(BMC)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>The National Biodiversity Authority(NBA) has told the National Green Tribunal(NGT) that it has created around 2.4 lakh biodiversity management committees(BMC) as of January 2020.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Biodiversity management committees(BMC):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) are statutory bodies that are formed by the local bodies under Biological Diversity Act 2002.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Composition:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The BMC consists of a Chairperson and six persons nominated by local bodies, including 1\/3rd women and 18% SC\/ST.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Prepare People\u2019s Biodiversity Register in consultation with the local people.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Conservation and sustainable utilization of biological resources.<\/li><li>Advice on any matter referred to it by the State Biodiversity Board or Authority for granting approval.<\/li><li>Biodiversity education and awareness building.<\/li><li>Maintain a Register giving information about the details of access to biological resources and related traditional knowledge among others.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional information:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Biological Diversity Act,2002:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Biological Diversity Act,2002 is an Act of the Parliament for preservation of biological diversity in India.<\/li><li>It provides for a mechanism for equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the use of traditional biological resources and knowledge.<\/li><li>The Act was enacted to meet the obligations under Convention on Biological Diversity(CBD) to which India is a part in 2002.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:The National Biodiversity Authority(NBA) has told the National Green Tribunal(NGT) that it has created around 2.4 lakh biodiversity management committees(BMC) as of January 2020.
