{"id":87216,"date":"2020-04-16T23:00:25","date_gmt":"2020-04-16T17:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=14879"},"modified":"2020-04-16T23:00:25","modified_gmt":"2020-04-16T17:30:25","slug":"amendments-to-eia-notification-2006-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/amendments-to-eia-notification-2006-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Amendments to EIA NOTIFICATION, 2006"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News: <\/strong>Ministry of Environment,Forest and Climate Change, has made an amendment to EIA Notification 2006 to fasten availability\/production of various drugs against COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All projects or activities in respect of bulk drugs and intermediates, manufactured for addressing various ailments, have been re-categorized from the existing Category \u2018A\u2019 to \u2018B2\u2019 category.<\/li><li>Projects falling under Category B2 are exempted from requirement of collection of Baseline data, EIA Studies and public consultation.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Environment Impact Assessment (EIA)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>EIA is a process which studies all aspects of the environment and seeks to anticipate the impact (positive and\/or negative) of a proposed project or development on the environment.&nbsp;<\/li><li>EIA is mandatory under the Environmental (Protection) Act, 1986 for 29 categories of developmental activities involving investments of Rs. 50 crores and above.<\/li><li><strong>Industrial Categorization:<\/strong><ul><li>Industrial Sectors having Pollution Index score of 60 and above &#8211; Red category<\/li><li>Industrial Sectors having Pollution Index score of 41 to 59 \u2013 Orange category<\/li><li>Industrial Sectors having Pollution Index score of 21 to 40 \u2013 Green category<\/li><li>Industrial Sectors having Pollution Index score incl.&amp; upto 20 &#8211; White category<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The Pollution Index PI is a number from 0 to 100. Higher&nbsp; value of PI denotes the high degree of pollution load from the industrial sector.
