{"id":87365,"date":"2020-09-02T13:22:57","date_gmt":"2020-09-02T07:52:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=17212"},"modified":"2020-09-02T13:22:57","modified_gmt":"2020-09-02T07:52:57","slug":"centre-launches-green-term-ahead-marketgtam-for-renewable-energy-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/centre-launches-green-term-ahead-marketgtam-for-renewable-energy-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Centre Launches Green Term Ahead Market(GTAM) For Renewable Energy Sector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News: <\/strong>Union Power Minister has launched a pan-India Green Term Ahead Market(GTAM) in electricity as a first step towards greening the Indian short term power market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>GTAM: <\/strong>It is an alternative new model introduced for selling off the power by the renewable developers in the open market without getting into long term PPAs.<ul><li>It aims to benefit buyers of RE through competitive prices and transparent and flexible procurement.Sellers will also be benefitted by getting access to Pan India Market.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Features:<\/strong><ul><li>Transactions through GTAM will be bilateral in nature with clear identification of corresponding buyers and sellers.<\/li><li>The GTAM contracts will be segregated into Solar RPO( Renewable purchase obligation) &amp; Non-Solar RPO.<\/li><li>The market will offer trade in four types of green term-ahead contracts i.e. Green Intra-day contracts, Day-ahead Contingency contracts, Daily Contracts and Weekly contracts.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Significance:<\/strong><ul><li>The GTAM platform would lessen the burden on RE-rich States and incentivize them to develop RE capacity beyond their own RPO.<\/li><li>GTAM platform will lead to an increase in the number of participants in the renewable energy sector.<\/li><li>It would promote Renewable Energy(RE) merchant capacity addition and help in achieving RE capacity addition targets of the country.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Renewable Purchase Obligation(RPO): <\/strong>It<strong> <\/strong>mandates all electricity distribution licensees should purchase or produce a minimum specified quantity of their requirements from Renewable Energy Sources.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Union Power Minister has launched a pan-India Green Term Ahead Market(GTAM) in electricity as a first step towards greening the Indian short term power market.
