  1. The Ministries of Earth Sciences and Agriculture\nhave launched a new mobile application called Meghdoot. The app has been\ndeveloped by by experts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and\nIndian Institute of Tropical meteorology and the Indian Council of Agricultural\nResearch<\/li>
  2. The mobile app will provide location, and crop\nand livestock-specific weather-based agro advisories to farmers in local\nlanguages. The information would be updated twice a week on Tuesdays and\nFridays<\/li>
  3. It will provide forecast relating to\ntemperature, rainfall, humidity, and wind speed and direction. This information\nis critical for farmers. The app will also provide advisories to farmers on how\nto take care of their crops and livestock.<\/li>
  4. The app would provide information in the form of\nimages, maps and pictures. It has also been integrated with WhatsApp and\nFacebook to help farmers share advisories among themselves.<\/li>
  5. The app would be available for 150 districts in\ndifferent parts of the country. It will be extended to rest of the country in a\nphased manner over the next one year.<\/li>
  6. Further, IMD has developed new website to\ndisseminate weather and climate. The website has district-wise weather warnings\nin easy to view and read formats. It will also act as a centralized portal to\nall the meteorological offices in India to update the warnings, bulletins and\nother data in real-time.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
