  1. The Jammu and Kashmir government imposed\nrestrictions in Srinagar and some other districts under Section 144 CrPC.<\/li>
  2. Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure\n(CrPC) is issued in urgent cases of security threat or riot. It bars the\nassembly of five or more people in an area where it has been imposed. The\nnotification is issued by the District Magistrate of the area. <\/li>
  3. Section 144 of CrPc is imposed when there are\napprehensions of breach of public peace and order by some people.<\/li>
  4. Under the section, all civilians are barred from\ncarrying of weapons including lathis, in public places except for police or\nparamilitary or security forces. It also empowers the authorities to block\ninternet access.<\/li>
  5. No order under this section can remain in force\nfor more than two months. However, if the state government considers it\nnecessary for preventing danger to human life or for preventing a riot, it can\nextend the impositions under the sections for not more than six months from the\ndate of issuance of the initial order.<\/li>
  6. It must be noted that Section 144 CrPC is not\nequivalent to a curfew. Curfew orders are issued in more severe situations\nwhere people are instructed to stay indoors for a specific time or period.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
