The poles of Mercury and the Moon are among\nthe coldest places in the solar system.<\/li><li>Unlike Earth, the spin axes of Mercury and the\nMoon are oriented such that, in their polar regions, the Sun never rises high\nabove the horizon. <\/li><li>Consequently, polar topographic depressions,\nsuch as impact craters (formed when meteoroids or comets impact the surface)\nremain permanently shadowed <\/li><li>Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) is a NASA\nrobotic spacecraft which orbits the Moon in an eccentric polar mapping orbit.<\/li><li>MESSENGER \u2013 the Mercury Surface, Space Environment,\nGeochemistry and Ranging spacecraft is NASA robotic spacecraft that orbited Mercury\nfrom 2011 to 2015.
