Motupalli village is located in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh\nin Chinnaganjam mandal of Prakasam district.<\/li><li>Veerabhadraswamy (form of Lord Shiva) temple was\nbuilt during the reign of Chola dynasty. &nbsp;It has&nbsp;inscriptions in\nTelugu and Tamil&nbsp;and also host Panchaloha idols.<strong> <\/strong>The\ntemple remains closed after\nArchaeology Dept. took it over for conservation and preservation.<\/li><li>Motupalli\nhas been an important port with flourishing trade with South Asian countries\nespecially during the medieval period. The village is also referred\nto as \u2018Mohanagiripuram\u2019. Motupalli is also referred in the accounts of Italian\nmerchant Marco Polo who visited the Motupalli in the 13th century.<\/li><li>The\nprominence of Motupalli declined gradually with the advent of the Britishers on\nthe East coast who focused their trading activities mostly from Machilipatnam\n(located in the present Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh)<\/li><li>Excavations\ntaken up by the Archaeology Department had led to unearthing of Chinese ware\nand copper coins of the Ming dynasty, coins belonging to the Chola era and\nbronze articles and pottery in Motupalli. <\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Villagers in Motupalli seek to revive a historic temple of Veerabhadraswamy located in the village.
