{"id":89753,"date":"2019-07-23T16:45:46","date_gmt":"2019-07-23T11:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=8382"},"modified":"2019-07-23T16:45:46","modified_gmt":"2019-07-23T11:15:46","slug":"what-changes-are-being-brought-in-medical-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/what-changes-are-being-brought-in-medical-education\/","title":{"rendered":"What changes are being brought in medical education?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>National\nMedical Commission (NMC) Bill, 2019 has been introduced in the Lok Sabha.<\/li><li>The\nNational Medical Commission Bill 2019 proposes to repeal the Indian Medical\nCouncil Act, 1956.<\/li><li>If\nenacted, the current Medical Council of India (MCI) would be replaced by a\nNational Medical Commission. The bill seeks to replace the MCI on the grounds\nthat the Council was corrupt. <\/li><li>Further,\nthe Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare in its 92nd\nreport (in 2016) reported that the process by which the MCI regulated medical\ncolleges was flawed.<\/li><li>The\nNMC Bill provides for the constitution of a 25-member NMC selected by a search\ncommittee, headed by the Cabinet Secretary.<\/li><li>The\nCommission will have four autonomous boards: a) Undergraduate Medical Education\nBoard, b) Post-Graduate Medical Education Board, c) Medical Assessment and\nRating Board, and d) Ethics and Medical Registration Board.<\/li><li>The\ncommission also be responsible for regulating fees and all other charges for\nhalf the seats in private medical colleges and deemed universities.<\/li><li>The\nbill proposes a common final year MBBS exam called National Exit Test (NEXT) to\nstart medical practice. It will also be used for entrance into postgraduate\nmedical courses, and act as a screening test for foreign medical graduates.<\/li><li>The\nBill also proposes to unify all entrance procedures for medical courses in the\ncountry. <\/li><li>The\nBill also puts a cap on fees on 50 per cent of seats in MBBS and PG colleges.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill, 2019 has been introduced in the Lok Sabha.
