{"id":89788,"date":"2019-08-06T14:52:51","date_gmt":"2019-08-06T09:22:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=8852"},"modified":"2019-08-06T14:52:51","modified_gmt":"2019-08-06T09:22:51","slug":"article-371","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/article-371\/","title":{"rendered":"Article 371"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Article 371 of the Indian Constitution grants\nsome temporary, transition and special provisions to some states in India.<\/li><li>Article 371 provides special powers to the governors\nof Gujarat and Maharashtra to create independent development boards in regions\nsuch as Vidarbha, Marathwada, Kutch etc.<\/li><li>Article 371 (A) states that laws enacted by Parliament\nwill not apply to Nagaland in respect to religious or social practices of the\nNagas, its customary laws, and procedures, administration of civil and criminal\njustice involving decisions according to Naga customary laws and ownership and\ntransfer of land and its resources. The Central laws in relation to these\nmatters can apply only if the Legislative Council agrees to it by passing a\nresolution.<\/li><li>Article 371 (B) provides that to give autonomy\nand voice to tribes, the President can provide for the constitution and\nfunctions of a committee of Legislative Assembly of the state consisting of\nmembers elected from the tribal areas of Assam. Article 371 (C) is for Manipur.\nIt is similar to that of 371 (B)<\/li><li>Article 371 (D) and (E) provides for special provisions\nfor Andhra Pradesh. It states that the President can provide equal opportunities\nfor the local populace in public education and employment.<\/li><li>Articles 371 (F), talk about special provisions\nwith respect to Sikkim. It states that that the Legislative Assembly shall\nconsist of not less than 30 members. In order to reflect the diversity of\ndifferent groups in Sikkim, seats in the assembly are provided to people of\nthese different sections. Article 371 (G) for Mizoram is similar to that of\nArticle 371 (A) for Nagaland<\/li><li>371 (H) talks about special provisions for Arunachal\nPradesh. Its states that the governor has special powers on the state&#8217;s law and\norder situation and can overrule the chief minister&#8217;s decision on the basis of\nthis provision.<\/li><li>Article 371 (I) deals with special provisions\nfor Goa.
