{"id":89821,"date":"2021-02-25T16:58:08","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T11:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=89821"},"modified":"2021-03-01T13:48:41","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T08:18:41","slug":"pli-scheme-for-pharmaceuticals-and-it-hardware-approved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pli-scheme-for-pharmaceuticals-and-it-hardware-approved\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;PLI Scheme for pharmaceuticals and IT hardware&#8221; Approved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Union Cabinet has approved the Production Linked Incentive(PLI) Scheme for the pharmaceuticals and IT hardware sectors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About PLI Scheme for Pharmaceutical Sector:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Objective: It will <\/strong>promote the manufacturing of high-value products in the pharmaceutical sector.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration: <\/strong>The duration of the scheme will be for nine years from 2020-21 till 2028-29.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Category of Goods: <\/strong>The scheme shall cover pharmaceutical goods under three categories as mentioned below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Category 1:<\/strong> Biopharmaceuticals such as complex generic drugs, patented drugs, Gene therapy drugs, phytopharmaceuticals, and orphan drugs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Category 2: <\/strong>It would cover active pharmaceutical ingredients, key starting materials, and drug intermediaries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Category 3<\/strong>: Drugs not covered under Category 1 and Category 2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Significance of the scheme: <\/strong>The scheme will benefit domestic manufacturers. Moreover, it will help to create employment and will make available a wider range of affordable medicines for consumers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About PLI Scheme for IT hardware sectors:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Objective<\/strong>: It will boost domestic manufacturing and investments in the value chain of IT Hardware.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Target Segment: <\/strong>The target sectors under the scheme includes laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs and servers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Incentives: <\/strong>Under the scheme, beneficiaries will be given incentives of 4% to 1% on net incremental sales over the base year(2019-20) for a period of four years.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance: <\/strong>The government expects the scheme to reduce India\u2019s import dependence for IT hardware in a major way.
