The Bill seeks to repeal the Himachal\nPradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 2006.<\/li><li>The aims to check forced religious conversions.\nIt prohibits conversion by misrepresentation, force, undue influence, coercion,\ninducement, marriage or any fraudulent means. The bill says that any marriage\nfor the sole purpose of conversion will also be declared null and void under\nSection 5 of the bill.<\/li><li>It proposes stringent punishments -up to seven\nyears in jail compared to the three years under the existing law. <\/li><li>As per the Bill, anyone seeking to convert will\nneed to give a month\u2019s notice to the district magistrate, stating that the\nperson is converting on his\/her own. The priest who performs conversion ceremony\nwill also give a month\u2019s notice in advance.
