{"id":89919,"date":"2019-12-17T12:01:16","date_gmt":"2019-12-17T06:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=12423"},"modified":"2019-12-17T12:01:16","modified_gmt":"2019-12-17T06:31:16","slug":"article-371-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/article-371-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Article 371"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong> The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and J&amp;K administration\u2019s have different viewpoint on the application of Article 371 in J&amp;K<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Article 371, contained in XXI of the Constitution, grants some temporary, transition and special provisions to some states in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Article<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>State<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Provision<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>371<\/td><td>Maharashtra and Gujarat<\/td><td>Governors of the states are given special responsibilities to set up development boards in regions such as Vidarbha, Marathwada, Kutchh, etc.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>371A<\/td><td>Nagaland<\/td><td>Parliament cannot legislate in the matter relating to religious\/social practices of Nagas, Naga customary law, and procedure, transfer of land&amp; resources unless the state Assembly decides to do so.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>371B<\/td><td>Assam<\/td><td>President may provide for the constitution and functions of a committee of the Assembly consisting of members elected from state\u2019s tribal areas.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>371C<\/td><td>Manipur<\/td><td>Same as Assam<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>371D &amp; E<\/td><td>Andhra Pradesh<\/td><td>371D: Safeguards local people rights in matters of employment and education371E: Parliament may by law provide for the establishment of a University in Andhra Pradesh.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>371F<\/td><td>Sikkim<\/td><td>Legislative Assembly must consist of not less than 30 members, seats provided to different sections in Sikkim.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>371G<\/td><td>Mizoram<\/td><td>Same as Nagaland<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>371H<\/td><td>Arunachal Pradesh<\/td><td>Legislative Assembly must consist of not less than 30 members.
