The scheme aims to promote the use of solar\npower among farmers.<\/li><li>The\nscheme envisages a) installation of grid-connected solar power\nplants capacity up to 2 MW in the rural area, b)\ninstallation of standalone\noff-grid solar water pumps to help farmers who are not connected to the grid,\nc) Solarisation of existing grid-connected agriculture pumps- This would make\nfarmers independent of grid supply and also enable them to sell surplus solar\npower generated to DISCOM and d) solarization of tube-wells and lift irrigation\nprojects of Government sector.<\/li><li>The\nexpected benefits of the scheme are a) ensure predictable power supply to\nfarmers, b) limit power bill of farmers, c) help farmers earn additional income\nby selling surplus power to DISCOMs, d) Reduce DISCOM\u2019s subsidy burden to\nagriculture sector.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has formulated \u2018Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (KUSUM) Scheme.
