{"id":90578,"date":"2020-07-09T23:27:48","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T17:57:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=16291"},"modified":"2020-07-09T23:27:48","modified_gmt":"2020-07-09T17:57:48","slug":"ujjwala-beneficiaries-can-get-free-domestic-cooking-gas-cylinder-till-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ujjwala-beneficiaries-can-get-free-domestic-cooking-gas-cylinder-till-september\/","title":{"rendered":"Ujjwala beneficiaries can get free domestic cooking gas cylinder till September"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News: <\/strong>The Union cabinet has approved an extension till end September for availing free cooking gas cylinders under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Launched Year: <\/strong>2016<\/li><li><strong>Nodal Ministry: <\/strong>Ministry of Petroleum &amp; Natural Gas.<\/li><li><strong>Aim: <\/strong>To replace the unclean cooking fuels mostly used in rural India with the clean and more efficient LPG(Liquefied Petroleum Gas).<\/li><li><strong>Objectives:<\/strong><ul><li>Empower women and protect their health&nbsp;<\/li><li>Reduce the serious health hazards associated with cooking based on fossil fuel&nbsp;<\/li><li>Reduce the number of deaths in India due to unclean cooking fuel and&nbsp;<\/li><li>Prevent young children from a significant number of acute respiratory illnesses caused due to indoor air pollution.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Features: <\/strong>Under the scheme, an adult woman member of a below poverty line family identified through the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) is given a deposit-free LPG connection with financial assistance of Rs 1,600 per connection by the Centre.<\/li><li><strong>Target<\/strong>: Initially the target was installation of 5 crore LPG connections by 2019.But the target was revised to 8 crore which has been achieved in September,2019.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>LPG Panchayats: <\/strong>It serves as a platform for interaction between those who received LPG cylinders under PMUY by raising awareness among LPG users about proper use of clean fuel and its advantages.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Union cabinet has approved an extension till end September for availing free cooking gas cylinders under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY).
