{"id":91034,"date":"2021-02-27T18:26:57","date_gmt":"2021-02-27T12:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=91034"},"modified":"2021-03-01T12:42:59","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T07:12:59","slug":"second-edition-of-global-bio-india-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/second-edition-of-global-bio-india-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Second edition of &#8220;Global Bio-India&#8221;-2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2nd edition of Global Bio-India is being organised on a digital platform.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Global Bio India 2021:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Organized by: <\/strong>It is organised by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science &amp; Technology along with BIRAC in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII), <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/dbt-floats-n-bric-to-drive-ppp-in-innovation-to-fight-covid-19\/\">Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises(ABLE)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/invest-india\/\">Invest India.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose: <\/strong>To showcase the strength and opportunities of India\u2019s biotechnology sector at national and global level.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inaugural Edition: <\/strong>The first edition of Global Bio-India was held in 2019.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Theme for 2021: <\/strong>The theme is \u201cTransforming lives\u201d and the tagline is <strong>\u201c<\/strong>Biosciences to Bioeconomy\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>India\u2019s Biotechnology Sector:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Biotechnology is an industry that focuses on novel drug development and clinical research aimed at treating diseases and medical conditions.<\/li>\n<li>India is among the first countries to set up a department of biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology in 1986.<\/li>\n<li>India is among the top 12 destinations for biotechnology in the world. It accounts for approximately 3% share in the global Biotechnology industry.<\/li>\n<li>Valu of the Indian Biotechnology industry was at $62 bn in 2019. It will reach a $150 bn target by 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council(BIRAC)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a not-for-profit Public Sector Enterprise set up by the Department of Biotechnology(DBT).<\/li>\n<li>It is an industry-academia interface.
