Further, India is <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/mha-directive-on-influx-of-illegal-migrants-from-myanmar\/\">closely monitoring border areas<\/a> to prevent any Myanmar nationals from entering the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why India sealed the entry points of the India-Myanmar border?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/coup-in-myanmar-and-india-myanmar-bilateral-relations-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">After the coup in Myanmar<\/a>, widespread civil disobedience movements(CDM) are taking place all over Myanmar.<\/li>\n<li>The Military-ruled Myanmar is following stringent methods to curb the protests like shooting the public, night raids on protesters home, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Due to this, the Myanmar nationals including many policemen have<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/issue-of-refugees-in-india-explained-pointwise\/\"> crossed into India and sought refuge<\/a>. Hence, to stop this illegal migration, the India-Myanmar border has been closed.<\/li>\n<li>However, the border between India and Myanmar is unfenced. Moreover, given its rough terrain, it cannot be blocked completely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>India-Myanmar Border<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Myanmar<\/strong> is also known as Burma is in South East Asia. It shares its borders with Thailand, Laos, Bangladesh, China, and India.<\/li>\n<li>India-Myanmar shares a 1,643-km-long border with Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram<\/li>\n<li><strong>India &#8211; Myanmar<\/strong> have a free movement regime(FMR). It allows people in border villages to trade and moves freely up to 16 kilometers inside each other\u2019s territory.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The free movement regime(FMR) has been suspended<\/strong> since March 2020 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
