{"id":98616,"date":"2021-03-30T16:33:37","date_gmt":"2021-03-30T11:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=98616"},"modified":"2021-03-30T21:08:48","modified_gmt":"2021-03-30T15:38:48","slug":"ministry-of-health-and-family-welfare-launches-tribal-tb-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ministry-of-health-and-family-welfare-launches-tribal-tb-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launches &#8220;Tribal TB Initiative&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Union Health Minister launches the Tribal TB Initiative to achieve the goal of\u00a0 TB Mukt Bharat.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About Tribal TB Initiative:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> Firstly, <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/health-minister-appointed-as-chairman-of-stop-tb-partnership-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tribal TB Initiative<\/a> aims to address the problem of Tuberculosis in Tribal Population.<\/li>\n<li>Secondly, the initiative will initially focus on 161 districts across 18 identified States. It will focus on vulnerability mapping, active case finding, and promote behavioral change at the ground level.<\/li>\n<li>Thirdly, TB Mukt Bharat initiative aims at the elimination of TB by 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Why was this initiative launched?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Over 104 million tribal populations live in India. It spreads across 705 tribes and accounts for 8.6 % of India\u2019s population.<\/li>\n<li>This tribal population is highly vulnerable to TB due to physical remoteness, malnutrition, poor living conditions, and lack of awareness. Hence, the initiative is launched to focus on these areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lakshadweep and the district of Badgam in Jammu and Kashmir have been declared TB Free on World TB Day 2021.<\/li>\n<li>The Government of India has increased the Budget allocation for TB in India four-fold in the last 5 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Other Tribal Health-Related Initiatives:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ALEKH<\/strong>: It is an e-newsletter that is to be released on a quarterly basis.
